Radif Partners

Publisher of Austrian payroll and benefit calculators

This site is published by Radif Partners, an independent publisher of pay, tax and benefit calculators. For Austria we set out to answer the question every new employee asks and few tools answer properly: how much of my salary do I actually keep, in every single month and not just on average?

Why it calculates differently

Most gross-to-net tools assume twelve equal salaries and two equal bonuses. Austrian law works month by month: the 13th and 14th salary are taxed at 6% only inside the annual sixth, and that sixth moves with every pay rise, every mid-year start and every bonus, before payroll checks it once more at year end. Our calculator steps through the year the way your employer’s payroll office does, and shows the commuter allowance on the same payslip.

How we test it

On 5 October 2026 we ran 408 queries through the Finance Ministry’s official gross-to-net calculator and compared the results with ours: social insurance and wage tax agree to the cent. Unemployment benefit was checked against the 102 rows of the Chamber of Labour Lower Austria table. Every value, from the tax scale to the contribution ceiling and the childcare allowance rate, was read and dated at RIS, ÖGK, AMS or the Federal Chancellery. The calculation method has the details.

What we are not

We are not tax advisers or payroll accountants, not a public authority and not the Chamber of Labour. The site gives no individual advice and refers you to nobody. Binding answers come from your employer, the Austrian tax office (Finanzamt Österreich), ÖGK and AMS.

Funding

The calculators are free and need no account. If the site ever shows advertising, it will never sit above a calculator. What you type stays in your browser and is not stored anywhere.

Written for people working in Austria

Every page exists in German and English. The English pages are written for people who work in Austria while still learning German: terms such as Lohnzettel (payslip), Sonderzahlung (special payment) or Pendlerpauschale (commuter allowance) are explained, and amounts stay in euros.
